Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Fabricator / Project Manager to oversee fabrication projects from start to finish while leading a skilled team of fabricators. In this role, you will coordinate all aspects of fabrication, ensure projects meet quality standards and deadlines, and maintain safety compliance on-site. Your mechanical expertise, leadership skills, and hands-on experience will drive the success of complex fabrication initiatives across construction and manufacturing environments. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise fabrication teams, providing clear direction, mentorship, and support throughout project execution
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication processes
- Oversee the use of hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to produce high-quality components
- Manage the assembly of sheet metal structures, ductwork, piping, and mechanical systems in accordance with ASME codes & standards
- Coordinate with project managers to plan schedules, allocate resources, and ensure timely completion of projects
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols on construction sites including rigging procedures, crane operation, forklift handling, and welding safety standards such as FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas),welding techniques
- Facilitate communication between team members, clients, and vendors to resolve issues quickly and keep projects on track
- Maintain accurate documentation including fabrication logs, inspection reports, schematics updates, and project progress reports
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years fabrication and leadership experience
- Proven experience in construction site fabrication or manufacturing environments with a strong understanding of construction processes
- Skilled in MIG welding and TIG welding
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, mechanical drawings and interpret technical instructions accurately
- Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters and press brake machines for precise fabrication work
- Knowledge of rigging operations involving cranes and forklifts for material handling and installation tasks
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to ductwork installation, pipe threading, machining processes and assembly procedures
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations essential for fabrication accuracy
- Experience working with ASME codes & standards governing pressure vessels or piping systems is preferred
- Excellent leadership abilities combined with effective communication skills to manage teams efficiently
- Ability to work safely on construction sites while adhering to all safety regulations including OSHA guidelines
