Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk / Junior Bookkeeper to join our finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting skills within a dynamic environment, supporting various financial functions including bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of accounting principles and experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Acumatica, or similar platforms. This position provides training on the software we use and gain exposure to construction-based accounting methods, including job costing and inventory tracking.
Responsibilities
- Perform general ledger accounting and account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Prepare and post journal entries, including debits & credits, to maintain the integrity of financial records
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently
- Conduct bank reconciliations and support month-end closing activities
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation tasks
- Support payroll processing and related tax filings as needed
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions using various accounting software tools such as QuickBooks, Acumatica, or Quicken
- Assist in financial report writing and analysis to support management decision-making
- Support budgeting processes and provide account analysis for internal review
- Contribute to bookkeeping activities including double-entry bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance
Requirements
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Acumatica, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation
- Familiarity with bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting
- Basic knowledge of payroll processing and tax-related procedures is desirable
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Prior experience in public accounting or corporate accounting is advantageous but not mandatory
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare clear financial reports
