Immediate Hiring - Telecommunications Technician!!
We are currently hiring a full-time hourly non-exempt Field Telecommunications Technician to join our customer's team to support multiple U.S. Naval Bases located in Southern California.
Location: The individual will primarily support Ventura - Port Hueneme, Point Magu and San Nicolas Island with travel up to 35%. This position will be 100% onsite at these locations.
Compensation: This work falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA), and this will be hourly in accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The Service Contract Act base wage determination is $34.76 per hour with an eligibility to receive a Health and Welfare payment of $5.09 per hour. A Health and Welfare payment applies only to 40 hours per week and does not apply to any overtime or double time hours worked. Local candidates preferred.

You will be responsible for receiving daily tasks that include installing copper and fiber for inside plant (ISP) and outside (OSP) and troubleshoot outages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installing, rearranging, and maintaining inside wiring infrastructure to include all levels of wire and fiber.
- Rearranging splicing and reconnecting at pole, underground or building terminals.
- Performing necessary work to connect, disconnect, reconnect, test, repair and maintain customer provided voice and data equipment.
- Performing diagnostic tests.
- Interpreting service orders.
- Keeping detailed written records of all work activity and changes.
- Evaluate customer communication needs.
- Climbing and working aloft.
- Moving and lifting items such as ladders, tools, test equipment and cable reels.
- Performing light digging.
- Keep the customer fully informed of all work activity and especially any planned outage of customers' system.
- Performing temporary rearrangements of Central Office frame during unattended hours.
- Identifying and meeting individual customer requirements on provisioning and/or repair contacts.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Must have related work experience and thorough understanding of structured cable systems, associated termination equipment, test equipment, industry testing standards and industry approved test procedures.
- Must have experience in fiber optic splicing techniques and be able to attach connectors to fiber optic cables and splice inside and outside fiber cables.
- Must be able to perform test procedures on fiber and copper cable, analyze test results, and certify results to industry standards.
- Must be technically competent to problem-solve cable systems not meeting industry standard test results and provide remediation recommendations.
- Must follow established safety practices and guidelines.
- Must possess and supply personal hand tools to include punch downs, crimpers, power drill, etc.
- Must be able to work from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday and may require overtime and/or weekends as needed.
- Must be punctual and travel will be required for this position.
- Successful candidates will be subject to maintain a valid driver's license.
- Successful candidates will be subject to complete and maintain a favorable Tier 3 (NACLC & ANACI) Government Secret Security Clearance and to include a favorable Tier 1 (formerly known as a National Agency Check Inquiries (NACI) background check and associative suitability.
- Successful candidates will be subject to complete and maintain a successful completion of drug screen and MVR.
- Must have the ability to possess excellent communication skills and the ability to write, speak and communicate fluent English.
- Must be familiar with all NEC Grounding practices.
- Must understand requirement of EIA/TIA 568 A & B.
- Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, twist, crawl and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
- Must possess manual dexterity in hands, fingers, and arms to effectively operate power tools, controls, and specialized equipment.
- Must meet specific vision requirements, including:

- Depth perception
- Ability to adjust focus
- Ability to safely climb ladders, scaffolding, or work from aerial lifts.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform work on uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to operate a vehicle safely and responsibly as part of daily job duties.
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to navigate job sites, including moving between varying terrain and locations within the work environment.
