Position: Operations Director (Full-Time)
Location: Highland County, VA, or nearby location, with residence within reasonable distance to our campus.
About the Role: As the Operations Director of The Village at AMI, you will be the on-site leading force behind our mission to cultivate healthy communities and nurture local ecosystem health through food and education. You'll work with our Executive Director to lead our dedicated team, oversee operations, manage and develop programs while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and the community. This is a role for someone who can balance the dynamic flow of day-to-day operations, a commitment to a larger social and ecological mission, and be able to handle the evolving needs of a nonprofit.

Key Responsibilities:
- Co-lead the organization's strategic direction with the Executive Director and collaborate with the team to execute long-term plans
- Design, manage, and deliver educational programs
- Manage and promote multi-day retreats and other events
- Support staff hiring, management, and professional development
- Manage all aspects of our farm and educational campus on Allegheny Mountain's 500 acre campus
- Serve as the face of AMI locally, advocating for our mission and building strong relationships with community groups, donors, and stakeholders
What You Bring:
- At least 3 years of program management experience, ideally in a nonprofit setting related to agriculture, food systems, social change, and/or education
- Strong leadership skills
- Program management experience, especially related to farming, ecology, and education
- Ability to manage staff, facilities, and programs across multiple locations
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Passion for AMI's mission of sustainability, food systems, ecology, and community health
- Experience with Google Workspace, web-hosting platforms, newsletter software, and other relevant tools

Weekly Schedule:
Full-time position (32 hours) with flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends.
Frequent travel to Allegheny Farm and other rural or wilderness sites.
Compensation: Competitive salary ($45,000-50,000, commensurate with experience) plus benefits including workers' compensation, paid vacation, wellness leave, and holidays.
