Allegheny Health Network’s (AHN) Women’s Institute is seeking a full-time Laborist (OB Hospitalist) to join a collaborative, patient-centered team in Pittsburgh. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to obstetrical and gynecological patients in the hospital setting.
- Manage labor and delivery, including vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections.
- Triage patients and manage admissions, transfers, and inpatient evaluations.
- Evaluate and manage obstetrical emergencies, including
- Postpartum hemorrhage
- Preeclampsia
- Eclampsia
- Evaluate and manage gynecological emergencies, including
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Pelvic inflammatory disease
- Ovarian torsion
- Provide consultation services to other medical specialties within the hospital.
- Perform gynecological surgeries as needed, based on training and experience.
- Provide postpartum care and education to new mothers.
- Collaborate with nurses, midwives, and other healthcare team members to provide coordinated, comprehensive patient care.
- Communicate effectively with referring physicians and outside providers.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including documentation of
- Patient history
- Physical examination
- Diagnosis
- Treatment plan
- Progress notes
- Provide 24/7 in-house coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as assigned.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
- Participate in departmental meetings and continuing medical education activities.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Supervise and teach medical students and residents, as needed.
- Assist with resident education and training.
- Completion of ACGME approved Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
- Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment
