What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Documentation Specialist position at Allegheny Health Network Home Medical Equipment?
Summary: The Medical Documentation Specialist is responsible for the procurement of medical documentation, recurring authorizations, and physician orders required by the insurance company for billing. The Specialist is also responsible for reviewing clinical records and logging all returned documentation into the Medical Information System
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30 A - 5:00 P
Role: Medical Documentation Specialist
Location: 404 Ford Street Ford City, PA 16226 than transitions to work-from-home after 90 days of training.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Request authorizations, CMNs, physician orders, clinical records/testing daily, and record actions are taken
- Maintain a tracking system for an outstanding request
- Log the receipt of all authorizations into the medical information system timely and accurately
- Create additional supporting documentation as requested or needed
- Manage Held Revenue reports routinely to ensure accurate and timely billing of services
- Resolve issues related to insurance coverage
- Answer incoming phone calls, provide excellent customer service over the phone and provide thorough follow-up

QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior medical/health care experience
- Familiarity with medical terminology
