Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or its equivalent AND one (1) year of experience as a beautician.
- Applicants must also have satisfactorily completed courses in cosmetology AND possess licensure by the Commissioner Professional and Occupational Affairs of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. A copy of the license must be included with the application.
- Experience in a long-term care facility is preferred.

Overview
Duties:
- Schedules hair appointments for residents.
- Checks hair and scalp and reports any changes in hair or scalp conditions to nursing units.
- Shampoos and styles hair by setting, blow-drying, cutting, trimming, and tapering; performs beauty services such as applying solutions that straighten hair or retain curls or waves in hair; provides color rinses and permanent hair coloring.
- Orders supplies and maintains inventory of products in the beauty shop.
- Performs services in the salon, on nursing units, and in beds for residents unable to be taken to the beauty shop.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the salon and equipment and follows infection control practices.
- Performs other related duties as required or requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Hair care procedures and the care and use of supplies and equipment.
- Cutting, trimming, and shaping hair techniques.
- Grey/salt and pepper hair color techniques.
- Relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within a long-term care facility.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area.
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Travel between Kane locations on an as-needed/necessary basis.
