ACAC is seeking a Communications Director to lead our comprehensive communication strategy as we live out our mission of following Jesus in diverse community and vision of modeling Biblical unity in a divided and polarized world so that people would know Jesus (John 17). This key leadership role will oversee both external and internal communications, ensuring our message reaches our congregation and broader community with excellence, clarity, authenticity, and cultural relevance.

Our Communications Director will champion these foundational truths by creating communication strategies that demonstrate Biblical unity, welcome all people, celebrate biblical diversity, and clearly proclaim God's truth in love.

// Key Responsibilities

External Communications Leadership

  • Oversee comprehensive digital presence including website management, content strategy, and user experience optimization
  • Direct email marketing campaigns and communication strategies
  • Lead social media strategy across all platforms, ensuring consistent brand voice and community engagement
  • Coordinate sermon series graphics and visual branding that supports teaching ministry
  • Oversee weekly service communication pieces
  • Oversee video production and storytelling initiatives, including promotional, testimonial, and teaching content
  • Manage direct mail campaigns and print communications
  • Lead development of annual reports and major publication projects
  • Direct text messaging and mobile communication strategies
  • Oversee exterior and interior signage, wayfinding, and campus communications

Internal Communications Leadership

  • Facilitate effective staff communication systems and protocols
  • Coordinate internal signage and campus information systems
  • Develop and implement communication workflows between ministry departments
  • Create communication standards and brand guidelines for all staff and volunteer teams

Team Leadership & Strategic Oversight

  • Build, lead, and develop a team of communications staff and contractors
  • Partner with ministry department leaders to determine optimal communication channels and strategies
  • Establish and maintain communication calendar aligned with church programming and initiatives
  • Develop and manage communications budget and vendor relationships
  • Create systems for measuring communication effectiveness and ROI
  • Foster volunteer teams to support communication initiatives

Strategic Planning & Innovation

  • Stay current with emerging communication technologies and trends while remaining Spirit-led in decision-making
  • Develop long-term communication strategies that support Biblical unity and help people know Jesus
  • Lead crisis communication planning and execution with grace and truth
  • Collaborate with leadership team on major announcements and organizational communication that reflects our DNA

Required

// Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of communications experience in large church ministry setting
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Proven experience building and leading diverse teams (staff and volunteers)
  • Strong understanding of modern digital communication platforms and strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in content management systems, design software, and communication platforms
  • Experience with video production and multimedia content creation
  • Strong project management and organizational skills

Desired

  • Experience in churches with diverse congregations that model Biblical unity
  • Background in brand development and visual identity
  • Knowledge of church management software and database systems
  • Experience with live streaming and broadcast production
  • Understanding of accessibility standards for digital communications
  • Bilingual capabilities reflecting community demographics
  • Previous experience managing communication budgets and vendor relationships

// Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Lead Pastor and serves as a member of the leadership team. The Communications Director will supervise communications staff and coordinate with contracted service providers.
