What are the responsibilities and job description for the Basketball Official/Referee position at AlleGarr Officials Association?
-No experience necessary; we will train you! Training classes begin Nov. 11, 2026.
-Must be (but not limited to): 18 years old, physically fit, available most evenings December-March, high school graduate, a good listener & communicator, problem-solver, able to diffuse conflict, drug-free, able to clear a criminal background check, etc.
-Staff members are independent contractors who become eligible to officiate high school basketball games in Allegany, Garrett, & Washington Counties.
-Basic knowledge of basketball rules is a must
-Application & annual dues required
-Must complete the basketball referee training program and meet MPSSAA requirements to become a fully certified basketball official
-Must be a professional who is responsive to constructive criticism, responds to emails/texts/phone calls promptly, arrives at game sites on time, wears the required uniform, etc.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $35.00 - $80.00 per hour
