ALLEGANY COUNTY CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER
SUMMARY
Jane’s Place, Inc. Allegany County’s Child Advocacy Center is seeking to fill the position of a part time Contractual Therapist. This position provides trauma-focused mental health treatment to child maltreatment victims (ages 18 and under), victims of sex trafficking (24 and under), and their non-offending caregivers and family members. This position provides individual, family, and group therapeutic services. Additionally, the position will provide and interpret standardized mental health assessments, develop treatment plans, monitor client progress, and complete clinical documentation. This position works in collaboration with forensic interviewers, victim advocates, medical staff, prosecution, and Jane’s Place partners on the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
QUALIFICATIONS
A Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field. Must have possession of current licensure as a LGPC, LCPC, LMSW, LCSW, or LCSW-C issued by the Maryland Board of Counselors and Therapists or Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners. Must have at least one year experience providing psychotherapy, internships can count towards the one year minimum. Applicants must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community members, law enforcement professionals, coworkers and members of the public. Applicants must be able to multi-task and work in stressful, fast-paced situations. Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Selected candidates will be required to submit to drug and alcohol testing as well as a criminal background check before starting employment. (A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Driver's License and eligibility for coverage under the County’s motor vehicle insurance policy. Must be available to work flexible hours.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of child development, trauma-based symptomology, child maltreatment dynamics, sex trafficking dynamics, safety plans, and crisis intervention techniques. Ability to perform duties in a professional manner according to the code of ethics and maintain professional boundaries with clients. Ability to related to individuals, groups, and diverse cultural backgrounds in an empathetic, non-judgmental manner; possessing insight and awareness to be confident in the role, with knowledge of personal and professional capabilities and limitations. Ability to maintain clinical record keeping requirements, including but not limited to: therapy referrals, case notes, pre- and post- assessments, treatment and termination documentation, organized work, determine priorities, and complete assignments with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Apps including drive, sheets and docs. Strong organizational and writing skills, be detail oriented and be able to work at a consistently high volume. Have a good working relationship with community partners, attorneys, law enforcement, and community stakeholders. SALARY AND BENEFITS
This is a part-time, grant-funded contractual position with a salary of $29.00 per hour. Part-time positions receive limited benefits.
