Staff Accountant

Position Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and demonstrated experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Candidates who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and providing timely financial information to support business decisions.

The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller and accounting team to support daily accounting operations across multiple company locations while helping maintain strong financial processes and controls.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and other business applications to maintain accurate financial records and reports.
• Perform daily treasury functions, including downloading bank transactions, recording cash activity, reconciling designated bank accounts, and researching discrepancies.
• Manage vendor invoicing and payment processes while maintaining positive vendor relationships.
• Ensure all vendor invoices follow company approval processes and are entered accurately and timely.
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements on a monthly basis.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close by preparing journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
• Perform account analysis and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Support accounting activities for multiple company locations as needed.
• Assist the Controller in preparing confidential financial reports, financial analyses, and special projects.
• Ensure accounting practices and financial reporting comply with GAAP and company policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiencies, and internal controls.
• Perform other duties and accounting projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
• Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, or financial management systems required.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and general ledger processes.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
• Experience working in a multi-location organization.
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-based accounting environments.
