What are the responsibilities and job description for the ICT / Low Voltage Estimator position at Allan Briteway Electrical Utility Contractors, Inc.?
About Allan Briteway
For more than 90 years, Allan Briteway Electrical Utility Contractors has been one of New Jersey's most trusted electrical contractors. We build and maintain the systems that keep the region running — commercial and industrial construction, transmission and distribution, traffic and street lighting, mission-critical data centers, ICT construction, and low voltage systems. Our clients are owners, general contractors, construction managers, architects, and engineers who come back to us because we deliver: the responsiveness of a local contractor, and the financial strength of a national one.
We're growing across New York and New Jersey, and we're looking for an estimator to grow with us.
The Role
As our ICT / Low Voltage Estimator, you'll own the numbers behind our low voltage pursuits — reading the drawings, building the takeoffs, and putting together bids that win work and hold up in the field. You'll sit at the center of the pre-construction process, working directly with Project Managers, Engineers, and Operations to turn a set of documents into a competitive, defensible proposal.
This is a role for someone who likes getting it right. Scope gaps caught at bid time are worth far more than change orders later, and we want an estimator who thinks that way.
Systems You'll Estimate
- Network Infrastructure (Div 27)
- Copper Structured Cabling
- OSP & ISP Construction
- Data Center Construction
- Wireless Infrastructure
- PoE distribution
- Electronic Safety & Security (Div 28)
- Access Control Systems
- Intrusion Detection
- CCTV & VMS Systems
- Smart Building & Connected Systems
- DAS
- Small Cell/Private 5G-CBRS as a plus.
- AV
- Sound Masking
What You'll Do
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop a complete understanding of project scope
- Perform accurate material and labor takeoffs
- Prepare competitive estimates and professional proposals
- Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and project risks before they become problems
- Partner with Project Managers, Engineers, and Operations throughout pre-construction and handoff
- Manage multiple active bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Support budget development and change order pricing
What You Bring
Required
- Prior low voltage estimating experience
- Strong command of construction drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of labor rates, material costs, and installation requirements
- Sharp attention to detail and strong organizational habits
- Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and hit deadlines
Nice to Have
- Experience with estimating and takeoff software (Accubid, Bluebeam, McCormick, or similar)
- Familiarity with NJ and NY market conditions, prevailing wage, and IBEW labor.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- 401(k) & Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Paid time off and holidays.
- A stable, 90-year-old company in an active growth phase across NY and NJ.
- Direct access to leadership and a clear path to advancement.
