Telecommunications (OSP) Field Engineer
This position will support the organization through designing, approving, and facilitating residential outside plant project construction, preparing logistics of the plan, creating and maintaining maps, drawing, and records.
Key Essential Functions and Duties
In conjunction with cities, design the most efficient, cost-effective way to serve customers with telecommunication services.
- Determine appropriate routes, taking into consideration geography, existing facilities, buildings, and cost.
Facilitation of residential outside plant project construction.
- Schedule builds; coordinating details with Construction, Customer Service, developers and contractors; ensuring grounding and bonding at the ONT, hand hole and pedestal; cleaning work area; documenting the work
Prepares logistics of residential outside plant project construction.
- Creating staking sheets for proposed outside plant installation; preparing permit applications; securing permits and easements; Working with customers to determine the design of a drop (routing the fiber, copper or coax line) to an ONT device at the customer premise; recommending type of construction and specifying materials needed
Creates, maintains and updates maps, drawings and records for new and existing outside plant and inside plant facilities for ongoing reference used by Facilities, IP, Customer Service and Construction departments.
- Plant Verification / Creating Red Lines, using engineering software; obtaining GIS information from various sources, including GPS and government survey records

- Associate’s degree in electronics or network management, preferred.
- 2-4 years of telecommunications/electronics/RF coaxial systems experience.
- Previous GIS/CAD and Mapping experience.
- A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
