Responsibilities
Assist senior auto body technicians with a variety of repair tasks, including preparing vehicles for repairs and supporting the completion of auto body work. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment such as MIG welding and soldering to aid in sheet metal fabrication and auto restoration projects. Help with vehicle disassembly and reassembly, ensuring all parts are correctly fitted and aligned. Support the use of auto glass replacement, auto painting—including airless paint spraying—and detailing to achieve high-quality finishes. Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, including fluid checks, tire changes, and light mechanical repairs under supervision. Handle heavy lifting safely while moving parts or vehicles around the shop to maintain workflow efficiency. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Experience
Previous dealership experience or hands-on work in an automotive environment is highly preferred. Familiarity with MIG welding, sheet metal work, fabrication techniques, and auto body repair processes is a strong advantage. Basic mechanical knowledge combined with experience using hand tools, power tools, and auto glass or auto painting equipment will set you apart. Understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures, auto estimating practices, and auto restoration techniques is beneficial. Experience with automotive repair or mechanic work demonstrates your ability to contribute effectively in this role. Strong customer service skills are valued for interacting professionally with clients when needed. While not mandatory, certifications in welding, auto painting (including airless spray), or automotive repair can enhance your application.
