Overview:

ASF is seeking a Buyer to support our procurement and supply chain operations by managing supplier relationships, maintaining inventory availability, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of purchased products. This role plays a critical role in meeting customer requirements, managing costs, and supporting efficient supply chain performance across the organization.

The Buyer works closely with suppliers, internal departments, and logistics partners to ensure timely product availability, inventory optimization, and continuous improvement in purchasing processes. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, organized, and relationship-driven with a passion for supply chain excellence and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do

• Request pricing, availability, and lead-time information from suppliers and execute purchase orders, including strategic advance buys when required.
• Maintain inventory levels by purchasing products that meet customer quality expectations and company cost objectives.
• Schedule shipments, oversee product returns, and coordinate customs broker activities to ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Review and validate purchase orders, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions with suppliers when necessary.
• Monitor supplier performance and analyze vendor data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Review customer forecasts and production schedules, adjusting purchasing plans as necessary to meet demand.
• Participate in cross-functional improvement teams and support company quality initiatives.
• Manage and oversee expediting activities to ensure product arrives according to required schedules.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, confirmations, and documentation within the ERP system.
• Verify supplier acknowledgments and confirmations match purchase order requirements.
• Collaborate with Quality and supplier partners to resolve issues related to defective, damaged, or non-conforming materials.
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain an appropriate balance of fastener inventory to support customer requirements.
• Quote logistics costs, negotiate transportation arrangements, and coordinate shipments with suppliers and customers.
• Support company policies, procedures, quality standards, and work instructions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support purchasing and operational success.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain experience.
• Fastener industry experience preferred but not required.
• Experience with overseas purchasing, international supply chains, and global sourcing strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience working with ERP systems and purchasing platforms preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong mathematical aptitude, including the ability to work with fractions, ratios, percentages, and proportions.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in situations with changing priorities and limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret and execute instructions provided in written, verbal, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
