Assistant Store Manager

Duties

• Assist in managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, inventory control, and sales floor management
• Support recruiting efforts by participating in interviewing and onboarding new team members
• Supervise and motivate retail sales staff to meet or exceed sales goals through effective coaching and training
• Oversee merchandising, pricing strategies, stock replenishment, and inventory management to maximize sales opportunities
• Handle customer inquiries with professionalism, ensuring high levels of customer service and satisfaction
• Manage cash handling, POS systems, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and shift scheduling with accuracy and attention to detail
• Implement operational policies related to store safety, cleanliness, and organization while maintaining compliance with company standards

Skills

• Proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles within the retail industry with supervisory responsibilities
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and communicate managerial expectations clearly
• Excellent organizational skills for inventory control, stock management, and operational tasks
• Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling procedures, and basic math for sales transactions and budgeting
• Effective negotiation skills for purchasing, pricing adjustments, and vendor relations
• Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases effectively
• Demonstrated expertise in recruiting, interviewing, training & development of staff, and performance management
• Knowledge of retail math including sales analysis, inventory turnover, and profit margins
• Exceptional communication skills along with phone etiquette for customer interactions and team coordination
• Ability to manage time efficiently across multiple responsibilities such as supervising staff shifts, overseeing sales floor activities, and handling administrative duties
