Human Resources Generalist
Location: Livonia, Michigan (onsite) -- 31778 Enterprise Dr. Building #3, Livonia, MI 48150
About the Position:
The HR Generalist will provide comprehensive human resources support for a manufacturing site of approximately 60 employees and will expand support to additional locations. This role is responsible for ensuring HR policies, programs, and practices are effectively implemented to foster a positive work environment, maintain compliance, and support business objectives. Key responsibilities include onboarding and offboarding, maintaining employee records, supporting employee relations investigations, assisting with payroll, supporting and coaching managers, and serving as the first point of contact for team member inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate onboarding and offboarding processes, including benefits enrollment.
- Maintain accurate employee files and complete I-9 verification.
- Perform audits and data entry in HRIS and related systems.
- Stay current on HR best practices, legal requirements, and system updates; recommend process improvements.
- Cross-train with HR team members to provide backup support as needed.
- Assist with employee relations matters and investigations.
- Support performance management processes.
- Manage benefits administration for qualified life events and annual open enrollment.
- Assist with local and multi-site recruiting efforts.
- Provide payroll support and collaborate with payroll team as needed.
- Ensure accuracy of employee data in HRIS (ADP and Oracle).
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Support safety programs and workers’ compensation reporting.
- Maintain HR documentation and records in accordance with company standards.
- Utilize Learning Management System (LMS) for training coordination and tracking.
- Participate in HR-related projects as assigned.
- Travel up to 20% to support additional sites.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or other related field preferred (not required).
- 5 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with HRIS systems (Oracle Fusion, ADP Workforce Now preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); intermediate Excel skills required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Experience with benefits administration, open enrollment, recruiting, personnel file management, and I-9 compliance.
- Experience supporting multiple sites or remote teams.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Spanish fluency preferred but not required.
- Experience with training and LMS administration.
