Overview
Lifeguards are responsible for protecting people from drowning, which is a role that requires one to be alert, vigilant, and trained to react in situations where someone may need help in the water. This role is all about prevention, so we hold our Lifeguards to high standards. If you're looking to oversee the pools and help protect those in them, we're ready to meet with you.
All Sport Health and Fitness is looking for Lifeguards that have availability in the morning and early afternoon.
Key Responsibilities
Lifeguard Shifts
- Arrive 10–15 minutes prior to assigned work time.
- Be properly dressed in a one-piece swimsuit, lifeguard shirt, black/red shorts, and whistle.
- Follow proper opening and closing procedures by making sure to lock and secure all pool doors when the pool is closed.
- Observe and enforce all rules, regulations, and policies.
- Prevent casualties or accidents.
- Rescue and provide emergency care to any accident victim in and around the pool and record such incidents on an accident report.
- Walk around the pool deck during assigned hours and sit for no more than 10 minutes at a time.
- Refrain from using telephones, including cell phones, while on duty except in the event of an emergency.
- Attend all required staff meetings and training events.
Maintenance
- Check and record chlorine, pH level, and air and water temperatures on the daily log.
- Record swimmer usage.
- Inspect the pool for any foreign matter before opening and closing.
- Keep the supervisor advised of any hazards.
- Perform routine pool maintenance and cleaning as scheduled or requested.
Qualifications
- MUST possess a serious attitude toward job responsibilities and have the aptitude to think clearly in emergency situations.
- MUST have strong water skills and maintain a high level of physical fitness.
- Must be at least 16 years of age and demonstrate maturity.
- Possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or equivalent.
- Current CPR/BLS for the Professional Rescuer certification.
- Current Community First Aid and Safety certification or equivalent.
Requirements
- Have a thorough knowledge of lifeguard procedures, pool and locker room rules, emergency procedures, pool maintenance procedures, CPR, and First Aid.
- Remain constantly vigilant to maintain swimmer safety, prevent accidents, and minimize or eliminate hazardous situations.
- Be in excellent health and physical condition.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds, including rescue equipment and assisting individuals during emergency situations.
- Ability to perform CPR, First Aid, and AED procedures, including kneeling and administering chest compressions for extended periods.
- Ability to maintain visual acuity and hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to emergencies immediately.
- Ability to work independently and respond quickly to operational needs throughout the aquatics department.
Salary : $16 - $20
