Job Overview

Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorations, extractions, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
- Coronal polishing and sealants
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, adhering strictly to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide chairside assistance by handling dental instruments, suctioning, and ensuring patient comfort throughout procedures.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation when necessary for patients with special needs or medical histories.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, updating medical records, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices tailored to their needs, including pediatric dentistry tips and prosthodontic care instructions.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment following infection control standards and proper anatomy knowledge to handle all dental equipment safely.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential.
- Hands-on experience with dental assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting is advantageous.
- Proficiency in using dental software platforms like Epic or Dentrix for managing medical documentation and records.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and diagnoses.
- Experience with infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and maintaining a sterile environment within a busy dental practice.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices to effectively support young patients through their treatments.
- Ability to operate advanced imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners while adhering to safety standards.
