What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Hygiene Assistant position at All Smiles Children's Dentistry?
We are looking for a team-oriented dental assistant who will make our dental office more efficient and pleasant for patients. You'll ensure excellent customer service and lift administrative and basic dental tasks off the dentist's shoulders. Dental assistants should be well-organized with great attention to detail. Following instruction and asking good questions is a must. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care, anticipate next steps, take initiative, and be able to make dental procedures as smooth as possible.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients in the dental office
- Prepare patients for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort
- Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed
- Sterilize instruments according to regulations
- Perform routine dental cleanings and assist the dentist with dental procedures
- Undertake lab tasks as instructed
- Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked
- Schedule appointments
- Update and maintain client's dental records
Skills
- Proven experience as dental assistant
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
- Understanding of health & safety regulations
- Take and process X-rays of patients
- Good computer skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Attention to detail
- Well-organized and reliable
- High school diploma
- Graduation/certification from dental assistant school
- Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)
- Works well with Children
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
