SUMMARY
Clintondale Community Schools is seeking a compassionate, student-centered Special Education Teacher to support middle school students with mild cognitive impairments. The ideal candidate will create an inclusive, structured, and engaging learning environment that promotes academic growth, independence, social-emotional development, and life skills.
COMPENSATION
The compensation is outlined in the 2025-2028 CEA collective bargaining master agreement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide direct instruction in academic, functional, and social-emotional skills
- Differentiate curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Utilize positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment
- Attends staff meetings as required by the Building Principal
- Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and Director of Special Education.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Endorsement in Mild Cognitive Impairment (or equivalent certification)
- Experience working with middle school and high school students preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of IEP development, accommodations, and behavior intervention strategies
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may deem appropriate and acceptable
