About the Role
The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for accurately coding patient diagnoses and procedures, processing medical billing claims, and managing accounts receivable to ensure timely payment.
Responsibilities
- Accurately code patient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG methodologies.
- Process medical billing claims in accordance with insurance policies and regulations.
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely payment.
- Utilize EMR systems.
- Communicate with Spanish speaking patients (MUST HAVE).
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in billing or coding issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices, and regulatory changes affecting billing processes.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to billing and collections as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and collections within a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10) and CPT coding is essential.
- Fluent in Spanish (REQUIRED).
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical records management.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients regarding billing inquiries.
