Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Director of Practical Nursing to lead and oversee a Practical Nursing (LPN) Program with a strong emphasis on high-quality LPN training and workforce readiness. This role is responsible for the overall administration, academic integrity, and regulatory compliance of the program, while ensuring graduates are well prepared for licensure and successful entry into clinical practice. The Director serves as a senior leader, educator, and mentor, acting as a key liaison between faculty, students, clinical partners, and regulatory agencies.
The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience in LPN education, program leadership, curriculum oversight, and faculty development, along with a passion for developing competent, confident practical nurses.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Administration
- Provide strategic leadership for the Practical Nursing (LPN) Program, ensuring excellence in LPN training, instruction, and student outcomes.
- Ensure full compliance with Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing regulations, accreditation standards, and reporting requirements.
- Oversee program operations, budgeting, and resource planning to support instructional and clinical training needs.
- Develop, review, and maintain clinical affiliation agreements to support hands-on LPN training experiences.
- Prepare and submit required self-studies, annual reports, and regulatory documentation.
Faculty Leadership & Development
- Recruit, hire, and onboard qualified nursing faculty with LPN instructional experience.
- Mentor and support faculty in effective LPN curriculum delivery, clinical instruction, and student evaluation.
- Conduct faculty evaluations and ensure ongoing professional development aligned with practical nursing education standards.
- Maintain accurate faculty credentialing and compliance records.
Academic & Clinical Coordination
- Oversee curriculum delivery, course scheduling, faculty assignments, and clinical rotations specific to LPN training requirements.
- Ensure classrooms, labs, and clinical sites are appropriately equipped to support hands-on practical nursing instruction.
- Teach a minimum course load during at least one academic term per year to remain engaged in LPN education.
Student Success & Regulatory Compliance
- Support LPN students throughout the program, including licensure application preparation and documentation submission.
- Maintain accurate student and program records in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Foster a supportive learning environment that promotes retention, graduation, and NCLEX-PN success.
Professional Engagement
- Represent the Practical Nursing Program within the nursing education and healthcare community.
- Participate in continuing education, conferences, and professional development activities related to LPN education and training best practices.
Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; master’s degree preferred.
- Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing.
- Minimum of two years of nursing practice experience.
- Prior experience in Practical Nursing (LPN) education, training, or program administration strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop faculty while supporting student success in LPN programs.
