Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Small Engine Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of our service department. This role will be responsible for managing small engine repairs and maintenance services, supervising technicians, ensuring high-quality workmanship, maintaining customer satisfaction, and driving efficiency in shop operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of small engines, proven leadership skills, and the ability to manage workflow in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the service department, ensuring timely and accurate completion of repairs and maintenance.
- Supervise, train, and support service technicians to maintain productivity and quality standards.
- Communicate daily with service writer and general manager on customer inquiries and issues.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot small engine equipment issues when needed.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, explaining repair needs, and delivering accurate estimates.
- Schedule and prioritize work orders to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts, and service history.
- Monitor inventory levels of parts, tools, and supplies; order as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement service department goals to improve profitability, workflow, and customer retention.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or degree preferred.
- 3 years of experience in small engine repair and maintenance (lawn equipment, power tools, generators, pressure washers, lifts etc.)
- Prior management or supervisory experience are strongly preferred.
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills with a hands-on approach.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Customer service-oriented with the ability to resolve issues effectively.
- Proficient with service management software, technology and basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work with tools for extended periods.
- Lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, Mon - Fri 7:30am – 5:00pm, Rotating Sat 8:00am - 1:00pm
- Schedules subject to change
