Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. Must be a certified CADC in NJ. In this vital role, you will provide expert counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and co-occurring conditions. Your expertise will help clients develop effective coping strategies, achieve recovery goals, and improve their overall well-being. - Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate substance use, mental health status, and readiness for treatment
- Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing clinical counseling techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health management, and relapse prevention
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients experiencing acute distress or emergencies
- Coordinate care with families, child & family counseling teams, and community resources to ensure holistic support
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards
- Collect data for research purposes, track progress through ICD coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and complete necessary CPT coding for billing purposes
Skills
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including motivational interviewing, behavioral health interventions, and cognitive behavioral therapy
- Experience in crisis management, crisis intervention, and behavior management techniques
- Proficiency in addiction counseling, clinical counseling, and mental health assessment tools
- Familiarity with medical records management, HIPAA compliance, and medical terminology
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using ICD coding systems and conduct case management effectively
- Skilled in patient care delivery within hospital or home & community care settings
- Excellent communication skills for intake procedures, patient education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
