Location: Katy ISD Large Event Venues (Merrell Center and Young Agricultural Sciences Center)
Reports to: Usher Supervisor and LMC Staff
Wage/Hour Status: Part time / Non-Exempt
Hours: Event Days, nights, weekends and potential holidays
Compensation: $16 per hour

Qualifications:
College hours, high school diploma, or GED (preferred)
Ability to comprehend English (written and oral)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-traffic or stressful situations
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedule
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Primary Purpose:
Katy ISD Ushers are essential to the success of our events. They are responsible for providing exceptional customer service to guests attending events. This position ensures a safe, welcoming and organized environment by assisting with seating, directing guests, monitoring event areas and responding to guest needs in a courteous and professional manner.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet guests in friendly and professional manner and convey general building policy information.
- Assist with scanning tickets and direct guests to appropriate seating sections.
- Assist guests in locating restrooms, concessions, exits and other venue amenities.
- Assist guests with special needs, including ADA accommodations.
- Respond promptly to guest questions, concerns or complaints and escalate when necessary.
- Assist with emergency procedures and evacuation protocols as directed.
- Positively accepts and fulfills other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Indoor/outdoor event environments.
- Extended periods of standing/walking.
- Ability to ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs throughout the duration of the shift.
- Capacity to lift, carry and move items up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
