Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using tools like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Support medication administration under the supervision of nursing staff, ensuring proper documentation in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments through personalized engagement and safety measures.
- Assist with complex clinical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy, aseptic techniques, and infection control protocols in various settings including hospitals with Level I Trauma Centers or ICU units.
- Support patient transfers and positioning using equipment like Hoyer lifts or beds designed for acute or sub-acute care environments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in diverse settings such as long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, outpatient clinics, or home & community care programs to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program.
- Experience working in medical environments such as hospitals (including ICU or emergency medicine), nursing homes, hospice care, or outpatient clinics.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS).
- Prior experience with specialized care areas such as geriatrics, pediatrics (including PICU), behavioral health, or infectious disease care is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting patients safely and maintaining aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Strong communication skills to effectively document patient information and collaborate with healthcare teams while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
