MEDICAL ASSISTANT POSITION FOR PEDIATRIC URGENT CARE

Description of Work:

This is a PEDIATRIC Urgent Care that is looking to hire a medical assistant that can help with urgent care visits for children. Comfortable with blood draws in children over 5 years old and able to take vitals on children from newborn to 21 years old. Physician/NP/PA always on site at urgent care. Please see below regarding responsibilities required for this medical assistant position. This is a new pediatric urgent care, meaning you will deal with children of all ages in a bright, light, caring and calming environment. The patients are young and so are their parents, so we are looking for people with nice personality who like to work with children. You must have experience in clinic work with children and young adults. You MUST PASS a background check and urine drug screen before working at a pediatric urgent care.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist healthcare professionals with patient care and treatment
  • Obtain venous blood draws and preparing them for basic laboratory tests
  • Perform basic medical procedures such as taking vital signs, administering injections, administering vaccines, administering medications, collecting specimens and other medical procedures under physician/midlevel provider supervision.
  • Triage and prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
  • Provide medical administrative support such as scheduling appointments and managing patient information.
  • Assist with medical coding and billing processes
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Provide excellent patient service and address any concerns or questions

Qualifications:

- Completion of a medical assistant program-- certificate or degree.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and basic life support
- Experience working in a hospital or outpatient clinical setting is a plus
- Proficiency in performing basic medical procedures such as taking vital signs and administering medications
- Familiarity with medical administrative tasks including scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and other staff members
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

Skills:

  • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
  • Blood draw skills on pediatric patients are a must
  • Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting
  • Proficiency in medical coding and billing processes
  • Proficient in typing quickly and knowledge of general EMR systems
  • Ability to accurately take vital signs and perform basic medical procedures
  • Basic life support certification is required
