What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern position at *All Jobs?
Progression through program:
1. Upon acceptance in program, the candidate will receive all necessary safety training to meet company and MSHA requirement. All safety rules and regulations must be followed. The company is 100% committed to safety, violation of safety rules and regulations can lead to immediate termination from the Intern Program.
2. Interns can work up to 30 hours per week and every effort will be made to accommodate class schedules. A copy of the work schedule will be available in either paper or electronic form. Interns are expected to notify the Intern Program leader when he or she cannot make their scheduled shift(s).
3. Each intern will rotate through the various positions/departments for exposure and training. Each department will have a checklist/sign-off sheet for training and eventual qualification for various positions.
4. About 6 months before graduation, participants in the Intern Program may be sent, at Eagle Materials expense, to facilities that have or will have an opening that may be filled by a participant in the Intern Program. If the Intern and company agree that he/she will be hired for an available position, the final 6 months in the program will have more intensely focused training for the anticipated position.
Intern Training Outline – Raptor Materials LLC Company
Production Operations Portion - Learn to perform and demonstrate an understanding of the following:
1. Shadow Utility Operators to gain a basic field understanding of raw milling, pyro-processing and finish grinding.
2. Shadow Shift Supervisor to become familiar with the duties and responsibilities a Production Supervisor.
3. Learn Control Room Operations – Learn the theory of kiln and mill operation as well as starting / stopping equipment.
4. Complete the Control Room Operator Basic Training Checklist
Process Engineering Portion - Learn to perform basic process measurements to optimize and troubleshoot various cement making processes.
1. Shadow Process Engineer to gain a basic understanding of duties and responsibilities of Process Engineer.
2. Complete the Process Engineer Basic Training Checklist.
Quality Control/Assurance Portion- Learn to perform and demonstrate an understanding of Quality Control.
1. Shadow Quality Control Technician to gain an understanding of sampling, sample preparation, fineness tests, chemical tests and raw mix control.
2. Shadow QC Technician assigned to perform physical testing to gain exposure and understanding of product performance.
3. Shadow QC Technician assigned to perform chemical testing to gain exposure and understanding of product chemical requirements.
4. Complete the Quality Control Basic Training Checklist.
Non-Production and Non-Quality Cement Plant Functions
Tour the Limestone, Shale and Gypsum Quarries with Quarry Manager to get exposure to raw materials transportation and mining process.
Truck load out exposure. Spend a shift with a select shipping operator to see truck and rail loading and become familiar with cement types, cement storage and conveying and terminal operations.
Spend 4 hours with Environmental Manager to gain an understanding of the position’s duties and responsibilities.
Spend 4 hours with Plant Engineer to gain an understanding of the position’s duties and responsibilities.
Spend 4 hours with Maintenance Planner to gain an understanding of the position’s duties and responsibilities.
