OVERVIEW: The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining all electrical systems and equipment throughout the plant, providing leadership, resource management, coaching and technical expertise to engineers, supervisors, and technicians in the electrical maintenance department. Coordinate electrical design and development of new equipment and the modification of existing electrical equipment consistent with plant standards and for the improvement of plant performance.

Basic qualifications and/or traits that the Electrical Engineer must possess include:

  1. Some electrical troubleshooting and analytical skills
  2. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a continuous-process manufacturing environment
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  4. Ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and vendors
  5. Ability to lead technical problem-solving and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  6. Budgeting and cost management
  7. Some knowledge of PLC programming and process control systems
  8. Strong planning and organizational skills
  9. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  10. The ability to provide technical support during shutdowns, outages, equipment failures, and other operational emergencies, which may occasionally require work outside normal business hours.
  11. Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems
  12. Ability to work outdoors in demanding physical conditions including walking over rough and uneven surfaces, climbing ladders up to 20 feet and stairs, bending, pushing, pulling, and working in awkward positions, working in confined spaces, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  13. Ability to pass required background checks, physical examination, and drug screening.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Electrical Engineer is a front line employee accountable for managing MCC's electrical and automation systems while working with personnel from other MCC departments. This individual’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Ensure reliable operations of electrical equipment including motors, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), generators, and electrical distribution systems.
  2. Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventative and predictive maintenance programs for electrical equipment.
  3. Support installation of new plant equipment from conception to operation. Assure integration of new systems into plant operations.
  4. Leadership in plant major shutdown Electrical activities, contactors, capex projects, and ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment.
  5. Work closely with Reliability and Mechanical departments to analyze improve and document all aspects of operations
  6. Provide Technical expertise in the field of electrical, motors and transformers, electrical tests, instrumentation, automation, drives, PLC and troubleshooting.
  7. Identify improvement opportunities to maximize equipment life cycle and efficiency.
  8. Prepare engineering scope of work for all plant electrical projects.
  9. Update and maintain existing Electrical PM routines and adjust accordingly.
  10. Maintain, organize, prepare, review, and revise electrical drawings as required.
  11. Maintain critical electrical spare-parts requirements and assist with inventory optimization.
  12. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure electrical work complies with plant safety policies and applicable regulations and standards.
  13. Support electrical safe-work practices including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc-flash protection, electrical isolation, and energized-work requirements.
  14. Participate in safety inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective-action programs.
  15. Maintain required electrical inspection, testing, and maintenance records.
  16. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education & Experience Requirements: The Electrical Engineer will have a formal education along with previous technical experience.

  1. A minimum of a B.S. in Electrical Engineering degree.
  2. Technical schooling in areas of cement process is considered beneficial.
