Job SummaryThe Master Electrician will oversee and perform electrical work on residential and commercial projects, ensuring installations and repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all codes and regulations. This role involves supervising apprentices and journeymen, conducting inspections and troubleshooting, coordinating with other trades, and providing expert-level technical guidance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in both new construction and service work, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship and safety.ResponsibilitiesLead, perform, and oversee electrical installations, repairs, and upgrades for both residential and commercial projects.Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), state/local codes, and company quality standards.Supervise, mentor, and train journeyman and apprentice electricians; promote a culture of safety and teamwork.Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and drawings to determine layout, materials, and installation methods.Troubleshoot electrical issues in homes and commercial buildings, diagnosing problems quickly and accurately.Install and maintain systems including wiring, panels, breakers, service upgrades, lighting, backup generators, and low-voltage components.Perform and document inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and verify workmanship.Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and clients to maintain schedules and ensure project success.Prepare material takeoffs, cost estimates, and accurate job documentation.Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory; ensure worksite cleanliness and safety.Provide on-call or emergency service support as needed.Recommend energy-efficient solutions, upgrades, and preventative maintenance for clients.RequirementsValid Master Electrician License in the state of employment (or ability to obtain promptly).5–10 years of experience in electrical work with a strong background in both residential and commercial environments.Expert-level knowledge of NEC standards, electrical systems, and installation best practices.Proven leadership experience supervising or training apprentices and/or journeymen.Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across a variety of building types and system ages.Proficiency with electrical tools, meters, and software used for documentation and testing.Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to interact professionally with homeowners, business owners, and contractors.Ability to work independently, manage multiple jobs, and maintain project timelines.Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in attics/crawlspaces, and tolerate varying jobsite conditions.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.Additional certifications (EV chargers, generators, low-voltage, smart-home systems) are a plus.
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
