What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at All For Paws Animal Clinic?
Our clinic is looking for a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Previous experience in the veterinary field is required due to the high-paced environment and the amount of training needed. The veterinary assistant will be responsible for performing administrative tasks, assisting veterinary staff in examining and monitoring animal patients, and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in the exam and operating rooms. The ideal candidate will be willing to learn new skills and develop their talents as an assistant. Must have a passion for caring for animals, and excellent customer service skills as the veterinary assistant will work directly with animal owners. We are currently looking for full-time with open availability.
Basic Duties and Responsibilities
- Sanitize examining rooms and surface areas
- Assist in holding and restraining animals during exams
- Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and tools
- Ensure exam and treatments rooms are stocked
- Assist Vet and Vet Technicians with surgical procedures
- Provide care for animals after procedures
- Ensure all cages and kennels are clean
- Administer medication
- Assist in collecting samples such as blood or urine for testing
- Communicate with owners and families on treatments and procedures
- Take pets' weight and TPR upon arrival
- Adhere to the hospital's safety and wellness regulations
- Thrive in a high-paced environment
