Overhead Crane Crane Mechanic Technician (40% Travel)
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic / Overhead Crane Technician to perform installation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and troubleshooting of overhead cranes, hoists, and related material handling equipment at customer facilities. This role involves approximately 40% travel to client locations to provide on-site service, preventative maintenance, and equipment support.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with industrial equipment, and the ability to diagnose and repair issues in fast-paced industrial environments. No certifications are required; however, hands-on experience with overhead cranes, electrical systems, hydraulics, motors, gearboxes, and industrial maintenance is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on overhead cranes and hoisting equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and structural crane issues
- Conduct equipment inspections and identify safety or operational concerns
- Travel to customer sites for field service, repairs, and maintenance support
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Replace or repair components including motors, brakes, controls, wire ropes, and gear assemblies
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards
- Maintain accurate service reports and communicate findings with customers and internal teams
- Support installation and commissioning of new crane systems as needed
Qualifications
- Experience as an Industrial Mechanic, Crane Technician, Maintenance Mechanic, or related role
- Knowledge of overhead crane systems, material handling equipment, or heavy industrial machinery
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills in mechanical systems and industrial electrical systems
- Ability to travel approximately 40% for customer site service work
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and field service operations
- Ability to work independently and safely in industrial environments
- Valid driver’s license preferred
