Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate veterinary team. This role provides vital support in delivering high-quality animal care and assisting veterinarians with clinical procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare, excellent animal handling skills, and familiarity with veterinary terminology and techniques. Prior experience as a veterinary assistant and or as a RVT is necessary , animal husbandry, or veterinary settings is highly valued. This position offers an engaging environment where you can develop your skills in pet care, animal physiology, and veterinary procedures with canine , felines , Avian and exotics patients
Duties
- Assist with animal restraint and handling to ensure safety during examinations and treatments
- Support veterinarians with laboratory procedures, including sample collection and processing
- Prepare animals for surgeries or diagnostic imaging such as X-ray procedures
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment using aseptic techniques
- Monitor animal vital signs and assist with anesthesia administration when necessary
- Perform pet grooming, pet care, and basic dog training to improve animal comfort and behavior
- Manage kennel areas, ensuring animals are fed, exercised, and properly cared for
- Assist with animal catheterization, injections, and other medical procedures requiring technical skill
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, medications, and patient histories using veterinary terminology
- Support client education on pet care, animal physiology, and post-treatment instructions
Qualifications
- Previous veterinary experience or animal care background preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology
- Experience with dog , cat , avian and exotic handling, animal restraint, and pet Familiarity with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and aseptic techniques is advantageous
- Veterinary emergency experience or veterinary critical care experience is a plus
- Ability to handle diverse animals including dogs, cats, avian and exotic species with patience and professionalism
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
- Animal husbandry skills combined with a genuine passion for pet care and animal welfare
- Certification as a RVT or veterinary assistant are beneficial but not required
