Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel/Gas Fleet Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment. Your expertise will ensure our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and reliably across various industries. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery, including trucks, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm equipment, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills to keep our operations moving forward.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and other vehicle components using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, air brake inspections, wheel alignments, and equipment lubrication to maximize vehicle lifespan and performance.
- Fabricate and modify parts or components as needed using power tools and welding equipment to meet specific repair or operational requirements.
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently during maintenance or repair procedures.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues on heavy machinery and farm equipment by interpreting schematics and utilizing automotive diagnostics tools.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Assist in the assembly of new equipment or machinery components while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
Experience
- Proven dealership experience or extensive background in heavy equipment mechanics is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of machinery such as Caterpillar equipment, industrial machinery, farm tractors, and heavy trucks.
- Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems repair, vehicle maintenance procedures, power tools operation, welding techniques, and equipment repair.
- Experience in fabricating parts or modifications using welding or soldering techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with schematics interpretation for troubleshooting complex mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with tire service, wheel alignment, suspension repairs, shocks & struts replacement, HVAC servicing, and hydraulic system repairs.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely during maintenance tasks; excellent mechanical knowledge combined with customer service skills is essential for supporting fleet operators effectively.
