Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting through the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to ensure student safety
Qualifications
Ability to be organized, creative, independent and self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detailed-oriented and driven by excellence
Excellent communication skills orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school instructional and support staff and District staff
Ability to be flexible and receptive to change
Ability to manage student behavior
Ability to utilize multi-media equipment and materials and computer technology
Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress
Work may require exposure to student maladaptive behavior
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Follow the lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher to provide an effective and appropriate educational program for assigned students
• Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policy
• Continue as much as possible the routines and procedures for the school and classroom to which assigned
• Establish and maintain a sanitary, safe, orderly, attractive and positive learning environment for learning
• Report to office upon arrival at school; request clarification of school rules and procedures
• Maintain strict student and parent confidentiality
• Provide feedback to teacher; Include comments on the behavior of students, lessons completed and any possible changes in lesson plans
• Uphold all district policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject
• Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible
