PARAEDUCATOR- (One-on-One Aide - Floating - Preschool Program)
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
2. Be a high school graduate, or hold the equivalency of one.
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal - Department of Curriculum and Instruction
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Closely observe your one-on-one student because when IEP meetings are held, your input on the students is important. Respect students’ confidentiality.
2. Assist student(s) in the classroom for example: hand over hand for handwriting, make sure the student is focused during circle time to limit behaviors so that the circle time can run smoothly and effectively.
3. Supervise and assist the special area teacher if needed.
4. After each activity you will help in the process of clean up in the least amount of time so that the next activity can be started effectively and quickly.
5. Assist student(s) with toileting/dressing if needed.
6. Assist student(s) with feeding if needed.
7. Supervise cafeteria and recess to supervise the needs of the student(s).
8. Supervise student(s) in teacher planned activities.
9. Prepare instruction materials. (art materials).
10. Help to keep student(s) on task for the programs taught by the teacher.
11. Supervise and assist students when included in the general education classroom.
12. Provided clerical assistance (duplicate materials)
13. Reinforcing appropriate behavior in accordance with the teacher’s plan.
14. Listen and read to students.
15. Maintaining a positive attitude.
16. Assisting in teaching in the classroom. (small groups, one-on-one instruction)
COMPENSATION:
LEVEL 1- High School Diploma -$16.00 per hour
LEVEL 2 - Passing Score on Para-Pro Assessment - $16.50 per hour
LEVEL 3 - Associates Degree or 60 college credits - $17.50 per hour
LEVEL 4 - Bachelor's Degree or Higher - $18.50 per hour
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months
VACATION: There is no vacation time allotted to this position.
EVALUATION:
To be evaluated semi-annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on
evaluation of personnel.
Salary : $16 - $19
