What are the responsibilities and job description for the English Learner (EL) Tutor position at All Buildings?
Job Description:
- Communicate with district ESOL Coordinator for lessons and on student progress
- As directed by the ESOL Coordinator, communicate with classroom teachers to share student progress and to determine areas of student improvement
- As directed by the ESOL Coordinator, implement English Language Development instruction with ELs
- As determined by the ESOL Coordinator in collaboration with classroom teachers, assist ELs with coursework, assignments, and exam preparation
- Instruction and support: Provide targeted academic support in areas like reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and conversational fluency.
- Assessment and planning: Assess students' language proficiency and learning goals to develop and implement lessons based on established curriculum guidelines.
- Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
Job Qualifications:
The EL Tutor position requires that the employee has at a minimum:
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education In Arkansas, 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited institution of higher education -or-
- Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree -or-
- Met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness).
- In Arkansas, the formal test accepted is the Educational Testing Services (ETS) Parapro Assessment.
- Applicants must obtain a passing score of 457.
- Language and communication: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Cultural competence: The ability to understand and respect cultural differences and build rapport with a diverse student population.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in using technology when applicable.
- Other: Patience, adaptability, commitment to student success, and willingness to abide by all Wynne School District, State, and Federal laws and regulations
