The Instructor Pilot (CFII) will provide flight instruction to students in accordance with FAA 14 CFR Part 61, Part 141 and US Army standards. Additionally, this position will provide ground instruction to students in accordance with FAA 14 CFR Part 61, Part 141 and US Army standards, maintain accurate student training records in accordance with approved Training Course Outlines (TCOs), and maintain electronic student flight records as required by TCOs.

What You Will Be Responsible For

  • Mentor students throughout flight and ground training
  • Maintain flight training standards in accordance with FAA regulations and FSN TCOs
  • Ensure students achieve required flight training milestones
  • Schedule and coordinate flight and ground training as needed
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, strong listening skills, and effective communication; prioritize student development over building flight time
  • Maintain open and effective communication with the Chief and Assistant Chief Flight Instructor
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of FSN TCOs
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of FAA rules and regulations for Part 141 and Part 61 flight training
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure students understand and follow the FSN Safety Program
  • Complete all required documentation, including logbooks, flight documentation, endorsements, and related records
  • Exhibit strong customer service skills
  • Consistently represent and promote FSN flight training as a professional brand ambassador
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief, Assistant Chief Flight Instructor, or Director of Flight Training

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Current/Qualified to instruct in the Robinson R-66 Helicopter-preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of helicopter aviation experience, including support of U.S. Army or government aviation training programs.
  • Minimum 2,000 hours total rotorcraft time and 1,000 hours instructor pilot time.
  • 150 hours of instrument time.
  • Extensive aviation experience in military or commercial operations with a strong record of technical and operational leadership
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFII) rating
  • Current FAA First- or Second-Class Medical Certificate
  • Ability to perform all job duties in accordance with Airman Certification Standards (ACS)
  • Proficient computer skills required to maintain accurate electronic training and student records
  • In order to access the Fort Rucker site, US citizenship is required.
