Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will act as a liaison between our customers and service technicians, ensuring that all service requests are accurately documented and communicated. This role requires strong customer service skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Greet customers and assess their service needs while providing exceptional customer service.
- Document service requests accurately, including details on vehicle issues and required repairs.
- Test drive vehicles to better understand customer's concerns.
- Collaborate with mechanics to ensure clear communication regarding repairs and maintenance.
- Prepare estimates for services and repairs, ensuring transparency with customers.
- Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate records of payments.
- Follow up with customers regarding the status of their vehicles and any additional services needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- The ideal candidate will be certified in automotive repair in the State of Michigan and be able to assist the technicians with daily tasks.
Experience
- Previous experience in service writing or a similar role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, diesel engine repair, and auto estimating is highly desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele.
- Sales experience is a plus, as well as familiarity with cash handling procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude or prior experience as a mechanic will be beneficial in understanding customer needs.
