Duties
- Install fiber optic cables using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as bucket trucks and trenchers.
- Operate heavy machinery safely for burying cables underground or overhead installations.
- Perform fiber splicing and testing to ensure optimal signal quality and network performance.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and network blueprints for accurate cable routing.
- Climb ladders safely to access overhead infrastructure for installation or maintenance tasks.
- Connect and configure telecommunication equipment including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet, WAN (Wide Area Network), and low voltage systems.
- Conduct site surveys, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs on existing fiber or network infrastructure.
- Maintain detailed records of installation activities, cable routes, and test results in compliance with company standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in field service roles within telecommunication or construction industries.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, trenchers, or excavators safely and efficiently.
- Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques, cabling standards, and electrical systems related to IT infrastructure.
- Familiarity with schematics, technical diagrams, and network infrastructure layouts.
- Skilled in climbing poles or ladders; comfortable working at heights under safety protocols.
- Experience with LAN/Ethernet cabling, and low voltage wiring is highly desirable.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and construction safety practices; valid driver’s license preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot network issues on-site quickly.
