What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Sprinkler Technician position at All American Fire Protection?
The primary function of the Fire Sprinkler Technician is to install, troubleshoot, service and repair fire sprinkler systems, and other fire safety products with minimal supervision. This position is a multi-tier position with multiple levels based on certification and training. This position reports directly to the Sprinkler Department Deputy Director in their designated territory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform complex fire sprinkler system service and repair.
- Perform complex fire sprinkler system repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Maintain relationships with major accounts and multi-location accounts to ensure satisfaction and retention.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Two or more years in the installation and/or service of fire sprinkler systems.
- Experience installation and/or service of fire sprinkler systems.
- Strong customer service communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in the inspection of fire sprinkler and life safety systems.
- Technical knowledge of fire safety, and sprinkler system design and operation is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION, COMPETENCIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- Knowledge of fire safety codes.
- Equipment manufacturer training and/or certifications are desirable.
- Computer / tablet literacy.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Fire Suppression/Sprinkler System Technician.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and installing.
- Ability to climb ladders, competently operate necessary tools and equipment (computers, hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, meters, etc.), carry and move material.
- Knowledge of applicable codes required by contract (such as NFPA 25 Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, NFPA 13 Guide for Sprinkler Plan Review, NFPA 170 Standard on Fire Safety Symbols, NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Codes (IBC), and/or applicable British Standard (BS) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards with ability to pass a trade test).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, instructions, and other technical documentation.
- Document all work performed using online reporting tools, ensuring accurate and timely records.
- Knowledge of ServiceTrade is highly preferred.
- Able to work rotation of being on-call for emergency calls.
- Provide a clean and professional appearance.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while maintaining high safety standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns and explaining technical details in a clear, professional manner, and arrive on time.
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines with minimal supervision.
