Duties
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including evaluating wound size, depth, and signs of infection, utilizing advanced physiology knowledge.
- Develop individualized wound care plans aligned with best practices and patient needs, ensuring adherence to nursing policy compliance.
- Administer appropriate treatments such as dressing changes, medication administration, and IV insertion while maintaining sterile techniques.
- Monitor patient progress through regular evaluation of vital signs and wound healing indicators, adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, physical therapists, and case managers to optimize patient recovery.
- Educate patients and their families on wound management techniques, infection prevention, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed by practicing manual handling techniques and emergency procedures such as CPR and AED operation.
Requirements
- Valid licensure from the State Board of Nursing with active RN or LPN certification.
- Proven experience in wound care management within hospital medicine or post-acute care environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in trauma center settings such as Level I or Level II trauma experience preferred.
- Strong background in infectious disease care, medical-surgical nursing, and emergency medicine protocols.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical records management and documentation.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to wound healing processes.
- Ability to perform venipuncture, injections, and basic life support procedures including CPR and AED operation.
- Excellent patient assessment skills with a focus on acute care needs across inpatient, outpatient, or clinic settings.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and nursing policy compliance to ensure confidentiality and safety standards are upheld.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics (PICU), or school-aged children is advantageous.
