Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Cook to join our dynamic team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing delicious, meals for children that meet safety standards and adhere to established recipes. Your expertise will help create a welcoming environment. This position is good for someone who is lives on a fix income and looking for part hours. This position is on a bus line. Person must pass all background check because you will be working around children. We are looking for a clean, reliable, knowledgeable of the food safety.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals following standardized recipes and dietary guidelines
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, slicers, and other culinary tools
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new dishes and ensuring variety and nutritional balance
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including food prep stations, cooking equipment, and storage spaces
- Handle food safely by practicing proper food handling techniques and adhering to safety standards in production
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant environments with a strong understanding of culinary techniques
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production
- Skilled in knife handling, slicing techniques, and recipe adherence for consistent quality
- Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering is highly desirable
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork with kitchen staff and other departments
- Background in the food industry or dietary department experience is a plus
