Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Flooring Installer to join our team. As a Flooring Installer, you will be responsible for installing various types of flooring materials, including hardwood, laminate, vinyl, carpet, and tile, in residential and commercial settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship. Preference will be given to installers that focus on carpet.
Key Responsibilities:
Flooring Installation:
- Measure and prepare the installation area, including removing existing flooring materials, leveling subfloors, and addressing any imperfections.
- Install flooring materials according to manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and customer preferences.
- Cut and trim flooring materials to fit around obstacles, corners, and edges with precision.
- Ensure proper alignment, spacing, and pattern consistency during installation to achieve a professional finish.
Subfloor Preparation:
- Evaluate subfloor conditions to determine suitability for installation and identify any necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Install underlayment materials as needed to provide a smooth and stable surface for flooring installation.
- Address moisture issues and install vapor barriers or moisture mitigation systems to prevent damage to flooring materials.
Quality Assurance:
- Inspect flooring materials for defects or damage prior to installation and communicate any concerns to the project manager or customer.
- Ensure proper acclimation of flooring materials to the installation environment to minimize expansion or contraction issues.
- Conduct thorough post-installation inspections to verify the quality of workmanship and address any issues or deficiencies promptly.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries during installation activities.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear as required, including knee pads, safety glasses, and respirators.
- Comply with building codes, regulations, and industry standards relevant to flooring installation practices.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a flooring installer, with a demonstrated track record of successful installations across various flooring types.
- Proficiency in using installation tools and equipment, including saws, nail guns, adhesive applicators, and levelers.
- Knowledge of different flooring materials, installation techniques, and industry best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret installation instructions, blueprints, and floor plans.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to unforeseen challenges during installation projects.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy flooring materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds).
- Stamina and agility to kneel, bend, squat, and stand for extended periods during installation activities.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to manipulate tools and perform precise cutting and trimming tasks.
