Test Development Engineer
Apply now for the position of Test Development Engineer in our global R&D organization. We are looking for an Engineer with a strong technical background in Data Acquisition and Measurement Systems, LabView-based development of Test Automation and Data Acquisition, Mechanical Engineering, and development and design of test tools and methods. We are looking for someone who can develop best-in-class LabView-based Test Automation methods and tools and develop test hardware and tools to support prototype development and performance characterization of Mechatronic, fluidic and thermal subsystems.
Your role:
• You will develop LabView-based Test Automation tools and Data Acquisition interfaces for characterization of mechatronic, fluidic, and thermal subsystems.
• You would become familiar with Siemens LabView utilities for data acquisition and control of Siemens sensors and motors and integrate these libraries to build LabView code for Test Automation across subsystems.
• You would be responsible for developing and prototyping test hardware.
• Exposure to CAD-based Mechanical Design is required.
• You would work on customizing Sequences and Test Definitions to run specialized tests and DOEs on Siemens Instruments. You would work with Systems/Software Engineers to implement Software patches for these and push them to the Test Instruments.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX (CAD) and Simcenter 3D Structures is highly desirable.
• Must be familiar with basic Signal Analysis and Data Analysis methods.
• Must be familiar with basics Electrical Circuit theory and components.
• You will contribute to developing prototypes and test platforms for new design concepts.
• You will work with mechatronics specialists as well as design and test engineers from Mechanical Engineering to develop and integrate test tools and Test Automation solutions.
• You will participate in design reviews with cross-functional teams.
• You will actively participate in the identification of potential technical problems and provide effective solutions through original and innovative thinking.
Your expertise:
• You possess a solid understanding of fundamentals of Measurement Systems. LabView, signal analysis. Basic Electrical Circuits and components, mechanics, mechanical engineering.
• You must have Intermediate to Expert-level proficiency with NI LabView-based Data Acquisition, Instrument (Subsystems) Control and Signal Analysis
• You have experience with basic-to-intermediate level CAD-based Mechanical Design of test hardware and fixtures.
• Working knowledge of Siemens NX CAD software would be highly desirable.
• Your familiarity with statistical methods, Design of Experiments, and data analysis is highly desirable.
• You have a strong “system thinking” approach to problem solving.
• You are a team player with experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
Required skills and education to have for the success of this role
• Bachelors/Masters in in ME/EE/AE/Biomedical Eng
• Expert-level knowledge of and experience with LabView and LabView-based Data Acquisition, Instrument Control and Test Automation is required.
• Basic-to-intermediate Knowledge of CAD, preferably Siemens NX is required.
• Working knowledge of test hardware and fixture development is required.
• Relevant prior work experience of 2-15 years is preferred. However, candidates of all experience levels may be considered depending on their prior work background, experience, and education level.
• Prior experience in product development for medical, aerospace, automotive, factory automation, robotics, and Precision Instruments industry is preferred.
