What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechatronics Engineer position at ALKU?
Mechatronics Engineer
Background: Our client is initiating a major New Product Development (NPD) program to design and develop a next-generation blood analyzer instrument within an established IVD product family built over the past eight years. They are seeking two Mechatronics Analysts to support advanced motion system design, controls modeling, and cross-functional engineering integration throughout early design and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize mechatronic systems and motion assemblies for a new IVD instrument platform.
- Build, model, and refine control systems using MATLAB/Simulink, including motion control algorithms and system behavior simulations.
- Evaluate and analyze motion packages within CAD, including gantry motion, multi-axis assemblies, actuators, and precision movement mechanisms.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, software, controls, and systems engineers to ensure seamless subsystem integration.
- Analyze prototype builds, assess performance issues, and recommend improvements based on motion behavior and controls response.
- Support design reviews, requirements definition, and design iteration throughout the full NPD lifecycle.
- Provide modeling and analysis that informs mechanical architecture and motion system design decisions.
- Required Skills:Strong understanding of mechatronics, motion control, and system dynamics.
- Experience reviewing or developing CAD-based motion assemblies (gantry systems, actuators, motor-driven mechanisms, etc.).
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and advanced controls modeling techniques.
- Familiarity with precision instrumentation, medical devices, robotics, automation, or complex electromechanical systems.
- Master’s or PhD in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Controls Engineering, or related discipline (preferred).
