Alkemy Coffee Co. is looking for a dependable, organized, and creative person to join our team as a Café Baker & Kitchen Prep. This is a consistent five-day-per-week position with early morning hours, ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, preparing food from scratch, and being part of a small, community-focused business.
You do not need to be an experienced pastry chef, but some baking, café, restaurant, or food-prep experience is preferred. We are happy to train a hardworking person who is reliable, eager to learn, and takes pride in producing high-quality food.
Responsibilities
- Bake house-made scones according to established recipes
- Assemble breakfast sandwiches
- Prepare yogurt parfaits and overnight oat cups
- Prepare salads and other grab-and-go foods
- Hard-boil and portion eggs
- Follow recipes, portioning guidelines, and food-safety procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and workspace
- Track food inventory and communicate when ingredients or supplies need to be ordered
- Monitor freshness, production levels, and food waste
- Help develop and test new pastries and seasonal menu ideas
- Label, date, store, and rotate ingredients and prepared foods properly
We’re Looking for Someone Who Is
- Dependable and able to consistently arrive by 6:00 a.m.
- Comfortable working independently and managing a daily production list
- Organized, efficient, and attentive to detail
- Able to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistent quality
- Interested in baking, food preparation, and developing new ideas
- Able to communicate clearly and work well with a small team
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 pounds
- Familiar with basic kitchen sanitation and food-safety practices
Previous bakery, café, restaurant, catering, or commercial kitchen experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate.
Schedule and Compensation
- Tuesday through Saturday
- 6:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
- Approximately 30 hours per week
- $19–$21 per hour, depending on experience
- Consistent daytime schedule
