Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, particularly in settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes. This role involves working closely with clients to ensure their comfort, safety, and overall well-being while promoting independence and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client condition
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with care plans
- Prepare meals and assist with meal planning and cooking
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties
- Assist clients with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or autism as needed
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and well-being
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification preferred
- Experience in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings
- Strong patient observation skills to recognize changes in health status
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols
- Familiarity with care plans and patient monitoring techniques
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and families
- Compassionate approach to caregiving with a focus on enhancing quality of life
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated
