Description
Job Summary:
Bournewood Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Inpatient Group Therapist to provide therapeutic services to individuals in an inpatient setting. The therapist will facilitate group therapy sessions, provide psychoeducation, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and support both adult and adolescent patients in their mental health and SUD recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate structured group therapy sessions for patients dealing with various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders.
- Develop and implement therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of the patient population.
- Conduct assessments to determine group treatment plans and monitor progress.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Educate patients on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and relapse prevention.
- Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Must have experience in leading groups
- Degree in a relevant mental health field (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related discipline) preferred.
- Active state licensure in a mental health field preferred
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- Prior experience in an inpatient, residential, or acute psychiatric setting preferred.
- Strong group facilitation skills with knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, ACT, or trauma-informed care.
- Spiritual advisor/ background for some candidates also preferred
- Ability to manage a dynamic and sometimes high-risk patient population with professionalism and empathy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) documentation.
